2018 was a crazy year! I honestly don’t understand how anyone can look back at a whole year and describe it as just one thing!
2018 was challenging, inspiring, and brought a lot of changes. I am so proud of the woman I’m becoming.
I got a new apartment in the city and a new job that related to my undergrad major, finally! I lived on my own for the first time this year and managed to furnish and decorate my whole apartment…and humble brag – it’s pretty cute! Living by yourself teaches you a lot. I am the only one to blame for dirty dishes in the sink. And having the option to wear pants or not is pretty nice. I’ve gotten to the point where I’d rather hang out with my dog on my couch, sketching or blogging, than most activities. I’m slowing down in my older years… (:
My long term relationship ended this year. It taught me so much about who I am and what I deserve.
My biggest takeaways were:
Always listen to your intuition.
If you feel like something’s wrong, it probably is.
Don’t ever f*cking settle.
Don’t allow your loneliness to lower your standards.
Don’t ever f*cking settle. x2
In the words of my lovely mother, “When you meet the right person, things aren’t going to feel like you’re pitted against each other. You’ll be pushing the rock up the hill together.”
That really resonated with me. I hope to carry that lesson with me into the future. I’m proud of myself for doing what was best for me and putting myself first for once.
Oh also, quick little thing: We started a blog! I am so thrilled that it is going as well as it is, even if planning it is insane and crazy and unorganized at times. I love empowering others and have you all to thank for being so supportive and receptive to all of the things we’ve planned for you. I hope that SOMETHING we’ve put out for you guys has resonated with you or helped you out a little this past year. Weirdly enough, it’s pretty therapeutic for me as well.
I’ve loved connecting with our Women Wednesday features – Richmond feels a lot more awesome now that I know I’m surrounded by so many bad ass women that are owning their own businesses, changing the world little by little, or mastering their trade.
I wish for more self-development. This past year taught me a lot about what I need to work on – and now that I’ve identified some of these things, 2019 will hopefully bring me the how part of bettering myself. I also want to do some serious soul searching in the month of January about my career, about moving cities, and a couple of other big life changes.

We also want to switch our focus even moreso on the blog. It’s been neglected in the face of all the holiday craziness, but with the new year brings new motivation!
I’m hoping 2019 will be filled with health and happiness for my friends and family. I want to surround myself with the people I care about and really enjoy their company. I am so thankful that I am alive to see another year – I have been so blessed for all of it. And, I wish the same to you all.
Happy New Year. Remember to be kind to yourself this year.
